Walnut Mantel
Walnut Mantel
I sourced this piece from a sawmill in Tennessee. Super fun process... the sawyer allowed me to pick from felled trees. Once they got to the "meat" of the tree, they sliced off a 6-inch thick slab and loaded it in my truck.
To preserve the live edge, all of the sanding on the face was done by hand.
The slab is mounted to a flitch board (header board with threaded rod). The stone masons encased the mantel after installation.
